tues quite free.. oni 4 classes den got time to catch up on marking and planing and preparing materials for lessons. met joce at yishun gv to watch i not stupid too.
the movie is at times funny or lame or very touching. the irritating part was that towards the end, the movie tend to play 'yo-yo' with the audience, touching-funny-touching-lame-funny-crying-funny-lame-sad etc. it's a bit... irreverent (not sure if it's d correct word to use but tts all i can think of), i think, like bu fen qing zhong or sth. but it does address some issues in the society like parenting, family, education system etc and let us look at technical or d not so smart students from another perspective. it's quite close to your heart kind of movie. i like d jay-chou-sounding rap-song part; the lyrics actually... says sth impt, i think. haha.
after movie went walk walk (bought two necklace) and ate at sakura. stayed there abt 2 hrs, chatting and having dinner. it was nice catching up on stuff after not seeing each other for abt 2 mths. did a bit more shopping but i din buy much else.. joce did tho. haha. realised it's not easy (nor cheap) shopping for things to give one's classes for vday.. lucky i dun haf tt problem.. =x haha.
wed feel very tired. keep scolding students. after sch went home sleep. tot mabbe wanna go union de but too tired le den feel very sian so din go.
think teachers very poor thing. it's not just teaching lor.. need alot of energy to scold students and scream at them to keep quiet. somemore some student are juz plain rude, diao you and ding zui one, like tt glenn. bo chap his attitude.. today give beta form den tml just send him to dc. the 2E class got some smart asses but threaten them with staying back to finish work den they will keep quiet and do. 2A and 2E classes tend to waste time by giving false information to ur qn, like who's not here, or who is so-and-so etc. irritating. the 1A students not naturally bad, just tt very very talkative, den disrupt the class with their irrelevant qns and private audible conversations. 1E is the most well behaved compared to the rest la.. oni today abit run abt cuz they finsh work le dengot extra time b4 bell ring. 1T very hard to get them to settle down and listen den most also no interest to listen so just let them do workbook. 2T, after talking to JF, they kept relatively quiet yday but din pay attention de. haiz. wadever la, i teach wad i can, it's up to them to pay attention and listen.
but one upside to teaching is less office politics. the teachers generally very nice and friendly and helpful de, mabbe cuz teachers need to unite against a common enemy - the unruly students. being a teacher doesn't just constitute teaching. need to do other stuff like call student's family when students are absent, chase students for homework, check against namelist for those who din hand in, attend meetings and courses, plan lessons, set tests, do marking, organise events/celebrations, stay back for cca or extra lessons... alot of other rubbish la.
i feel like i spend more time scolding and screaming than teaching most of the time. my poor throat. really pei fu teachers. dunno where they get so much time and energy and still haf a life outside sch and teaching. really hafta reconsider abt teaching as a career le. mabbe if teach jc den not so bad? or teach at a better sch den less problems? dunno la. students are so ridiculous (mo ming qi miao) and unappreciative but mabbe cuz they're still kids and immature. i only hope i wasn't as bad as them last time.
another thing i realise is teachers often forget or no time to haf lunch. like u wanna finish some stuff and before u noe it, it's already 2 plus, 3 plus, 4pm. out of 4 days, i've been having 'lunch' at this kinda time for 3 days. no wonder melissa got gastric.
i now have even more appreciation, respect and admiration for teachers, for their hardwork, dedication, patience, and blood and sweat in teaching ridiculous, immature and unappreciative students.
tml start work at cpf board le. hope my collegues are nice and that there wun be too much office politics. *crosses fingers*
